It's some of thee best sushi around. We've been going to this Sakura for 6 years now. The fish is high quality and fresh. The sushi chefs John and Peter are friendly and engaging. The price for sushi is spot on. We have never done the Teppanyaki (steel grill at a group table) at Sakura. This style of cooking as entertainment is more expensive everywhere that its offered. I'd give Sakura five stars if it appeared a bit cleaner with a spiffed up decor and restroom rehab. The sushi is awesome here!

Horrible service! The cross eyed chef was so weird, I asked for a beer and it took a while to get I never was offered a second one. I ordered a few rolls, my dirty plates were never removed so I kept pushing them off to the side. Long story short terrible service, ok food. I'm not sure if that is the standard for this area but back home in Chicago, service is key!

Almost every time I drive through Prince Frederick, I eat here. I love the Prince Frederick roll.

I took my son here for lunch after fossil hunting at Calvert Cliffs recently. We were promptly greeted by the hostesses and seated at the sushi bar (per our request). The waiter was very pleasant and quickly took and returned with our drink orders. He also refilled them without us having to flag him down. We engaged in conversation with the friendly sushi chef while he prepared our food. The spider rolls were delicious and came with a lot of crab meat. My 8-year-old son enjoyed the salmon and tuna rolls (his favorite!) and ordered seconds on the tuna. We enjoyed ample, tasty portions of sushi for our money. My only complaint is that the hibachi and other entrée prices seemed a little high. However, since we ordered just from the sushi menu, I can't comment on hibachi or entrée quality or portion size. We would definitely recommend Sakura and will likely come back next time we're traveling down Hwy 4!

My husband and I love going here for sushi. The miso soup is great, the spicy tuna cocktail is superb and we have never been disappointed with chef John's sushi. Chef John and staff take good care of you while dining there. They also give military discounts!

Can't believe you get ignored or cussed at in Japanese if you ask for a fork to eat with. REALLY? Well, last night was it, no more. Food is good but not that good. I actually was told that people that ask for a fork are stupid! So says sushi chef John the asshole. Well, I think eating with sticks is stupid really, LOL! Oh well lost our business idiot.

Sushi John is the best in town, you won't find better habachi in miles. Great food, great service. Ask for sushi John!!

We used to eat at this place fairly frequently until we were insulted by the sushi chef. After our usual meal of sushi at the sushi bar, we paid the tab and left an 18% tip. Not bad for a lunch tab of limited required service -- I mean come on its a couple sushi rolls and an ice tea. That's when the sushi chef, John is what he calls himself, looked over the tab and explained to us that we would never be "VIP customers." First, who reviews the tab when the customer is still present; and more importantly who the HELL does this guy think he is? It took every bit of control I had (and some prodding from my wife) to ignore his insulting comment and just walk out of there without telling that SOB off. Needless to say we never went back. There are other good sushi bars and hibachi grills in the area. Don't patronize this pompous ass with your hard earned money.

Third time here on my annual vacation to Calvert County. The quality of the fish is great. This time of year yields no wait so take that into consideration. I chose to sit @ the sushi bar as usually sushi bars have a good communal atmosphere; however the sushi bar/fridge is a bit high so it does isolate the sides of the bar. The miso is quality, exactly on par with any good place. I opted for 3 rolls (for those who don't know you fill out a menu like an old CAT test and hand it in): spicy tuna roll (ordered Xtra spicy), Spider Roll, and the Baltimore Roll. The spicy tuna roll was good, mashed tuna with spicy mayo and some siracha sauce (guess). It was rolled extremely sloppy however but the taste was very good. The spider roll was disappointing, I am used to spider rolls with hot (just fried) soft shell crab. It was cold which doesn't melt the avocado.... it wasn't bad per se but once you have it hot there is no comparison. The baltimore roll was AWESOME, lump crab reverse rice roll with old bay seasoning on the outside (the old bay is a really unique flavor to have in a roll). No off putting flavor in any of the fish. The chef also served me (for free) some octopus in a white vinegar sauce with ribbons of cucumber expertly cut. This, aside from the Balt roll, was the highlight. The octopus was chewy and a touch crunchy, it reminded me off conch back when I lived in FL. Awesome. With a sprinkle of both black and normal sesame seeds this really was a hit. The background noise of the hibachi show was fun. Sure, the flaming volcano is not as cool the 100th time you have seen it but still, having a table full of hibachi newbies is fun to listen to. Bottom line: solid food but not up to snuff with the fancy places I am used to up north but the taste is there. A touch pricey for the area but not crazy.

Worst sushi I have ever had. It was mushy and the avocado was practically rotten. The restaurant is so Americanized that they put loads of butter in everything they make on the grill. It was so nasty how they touched the raw meat with a utensil and then used it on my vegetables. The staff are unenthusiastic teenagers and it is just a bad experience.

I so love this place. My mom and I are frequent flyers ( once a month at least). The staff are awesome and the chef's are great. There is one of them that has a really dry personality but the others are AWESOME ! The sushi is very good.

This Sakura is pretty standard as far as Sakuras go. The place where they stand out is their sushi. They have some different rolls they offer than other Sakuras which are really delicious. They also have this great white tuna and caviar sushi appetizer. I highly recommend it. The grill food is still great too!

I have to say that I have had meals here several times, only because the kids love this place. I on the other hand do not think that steak, some seafood, american vegetables, and rice are "Japanese" food. This is more like a steak house that cooks in front of you. You get a ton of rice that really fills you up and poorly cooked food, smothered in oil. Now on the other hand if you would like real Japanese/Korean food please do yourself a favor and drive over to waldorf and try KODORI restaurant, it is simply amazing!!! Looks like a little hole in the wall and it is, but wow is the food awesome!!

A really good Hibachi grill for Southern Maryland. It's better in other places, but I definitely wouldn't complain about quality food in 'the county'.

Sushi Bar is the best in Calvert County... oh wait its the only sushi bar in Calvert County. I'm a fan, but on weekends be prepared to wait, the sushi bar gets backed up. When this happens the Sushi Chief will let you know how long to expect for your food. There doing the best they can, and its worth the wait.

We have enjoyed Sakura restaurant for several years, since they first opened in our county. We are regulars at the sushi bar. It is so much fun to sit and watch the artistry and skill of the sushi chef. The sushi is the best I have ever tasted, and that says a lot because we try almost every sushi bar we can find! The spider roll - tempura crab - is one of the most delicious tastes you will ever experience! Sushi isn't all raw - there are lots of cooked varieties that are fantastic! Sushi connoisseurs will love this place, and first time sushi eaters will wish they had tried it years ago! Highly recommended!

Good place! They do the 'cooking-on-the-table-in-front-of-you' thing which is always fun. Good sushi-bar, too

Fiance wanted to come here again and give it another shot since he was craving sushi. There was a different chef at the bar tonight and he was spot on with all the food. Again, the food was good, and this time there wasn't a very long wait. We gave him the order and he pretty much got right to it. Could've been because it was a weeknight and not a weekend but he was very courteous. Spicy tuna is fantastic!
